RM12,888,888 for a wedding?
According to the Malay Mail (12-13 Aug '06), the 'Wedding of the Year' i.e. Siti & Datuk K (or Pak Besaq - as she calls him - which for me carries only one naughty meaning - gross I know) will cost RM12,888,888.
The cost .. so far:
Dowry: RM588,888 (what it is about the 8? in Islam ada percaya in lucky numbers ke?)
Engagement ring from Paris: RM400,000 (why Paris? why not Poh Kong?)
Wedding ring: RM250,000 (costs less than the engagement ring???? hmmmm...)
Datuk Shah Reza fee as wedding planner (Nusantara Gems): RM1.5 million (is Shah Reza worth this much? i know other wedding planners (ok only one) who does better work than him)
Cost of horse-carriage to ferry the couple: RM500,000 (horse carriage? horse carriage? does she think she's Cinderella???)
The hantaran: RM2 million (gila gila gila is all I can say)
Porcelain trays from Italy: RM125,000 (Italy? why not Ipoh?)
Rental for KLCC’s exhibition halls 1 & 2 for the reception: RM4 million (ni pun gila gila gila)
Estimated cost of engaging six designers for the couple’s attire:
Embun:RM305,000
Radzuan Radzwill : RM305,000
Michael Ong : RM310,000
Khoon Hooi: RM270,000
Anna Avanti from Indonesia: RM180,000
Adjie Notonegoro from Indonesia: RM205,000
Estimated cost of engaging two make-up astistes:
Nurul Shukor: RM550,000
Mia from Indonesia: RM550,000
Food and beverage: RM800,000
Ke n d a r a t group: RM22,000
Bunga telur: RM25,000
Kompang: RM3,000 (kesian group kompang .. 3 ribu aje? padahalnya ramai la dalam group kompang tu who usually need the money more than those people in the above list)

With what's going on in Lebanon, Palestine and sufferings of people all around the world, RM12,888,888 can go a long way.
Ok, I supposed they have a right to do whatever they want with their money .. but all this while, I have respected Siti for her humility, simplicity and how down to earth she is. So I thought her wedding would be just like that .. but instead it's one big bomb. I just hope it's all worth it and that their marriage will last dunia and akhirat, and not end up like Erra and Yusri .. that's really money gone down a huge fat drain.

'The best wedding is that upon which the least trouble and expense is bestowed".

malay mail tu boleh percaya ke? ala2 surat khabar nyamuk je.
anyhow, kalau betul la report tu pak besaq (tak tau la apa yg besaq) tak heran la setakat nak kasi ex wife berapa juta je,siti kawin je dah 3 kali ganda.
the horse carriage is so over the top, princess diana je yg buat camtu tu. it really cost that much ke?!! buat dari swarovski ke hapa?
ok .. i was gonna delete this post after realising that malay mail tak boleh percaya sangat .. it is a trashy newspaper anyway. but as husni dah buat comment, i can only say "Sorry Siti, Datuk K"
my dream wedding: hi tea with no ceremonies like potong kek ke... bersanding ke.... so that i can mingle with guest... so informal but friendly and practical esp for the pocket.... tapi i dah kahwin.... cam neee??
