2006 - a cupcake of a year
2006 has been, overall, a good year. Alhamdulillah I finally got promoted as producer with a 7%(macam banyak!!) increment, lost a few pounds (with of course, many many more to lose as I'm considered obese by the Jabatan Kesihatan) and my apartment looks more presentable now although I think I hosted more dinners in 2005. I also got to go to London!! But most importantly, as the year comes to an end, I realise that I've finally finally recovered from my unfortunate 'D' which happened in 2002 (aiyo 4 years..so long ah) and am able to move on with my life. I don't deny I still get the blues now and then but it's just little ones - no more huge crying sessions sampai mata bengkak, thank God. And the fact that I didn't feel anything when I had to meet up with my ex baru ni pun shows I'm ok :)
Looking back, 2006 has also full of events. My sister Shireen finally came back to Malaysia after 6 years living in Oman...she went there with 2 kids and came back with 5! There were 2 weddings - Naz's and my cousin's in London. Both totally unexpected. The trip to Ipoh for Naz's wedding is something I'll remember for the rest of my life - especially the part at Kunta's hidden stream where we ate nasi kandar. London - aahh pure bliss, no need to say more. There was the birth of Faiz & Mumtaz's daughter Batrisyah (hope I got the spelling right!). The Cowboy Night at Aiz's MAS Crew Dinner thing - the preparation and the night itself - I can only say I'd do it again if I had to. Then, there was the blogging sessions at Starbucks - ok ok not as active as before, but still..not as bad as Kunta and Journey la ;) And there was my first Raya Open House which showed me how wonderful my family and friends truly are. The event was made easier by my mum and sister, Izan who provided everything, and Kunta and Aiz stayed til the end to help me clean up.
There were also a few learning experiences. One of them was my Brazilian experience - the most bizarre ever - memangla 'angau' and 'bodoh' - but nevertheless, it was a good lesson learned and hopefully, not to be repeated. 2006 also taught me a lot about friendship...which I can't really blog about .. tried to write it here but can't seem to express it the right way.
So basically, 2006 has been a like a cupcake for me - SWEET!! I hope all of you had a good 2006 - yes, there were dugaans for all of us but that just makes us stronger, right? Here's hoping 2007 will be a better year, inshaAllah! XOX
