Don't Be Sad
Have been feeling down lately .. must be the hormones talking, yet again! The red flag is going up next week and feeling EXTRA blue is just one of the signs, besides having a bloated stomach and a bigger appetite. Guys really have it easy..ok ok I will not start that debate. But seriously .. you guys DO.
Anyway, I was cleaning out my email today and found this piece called "Don't Be Sad" and it did kinda help lift me up a little (I've posted just some parts of it):
Forget the past and all that it contained. Being absorbed in things that are gone is sheer lunacy.
(I would like to add that we should not completely forget the past, hold on to fun and happy memories .. for e.g. good food last Sunday at KedaiMakan and great company i.e. Aiz & co)
Do not be preoccupied with the future. Because the future is in the world of the unseen, do not let it bother you until it comes.
(Well, for me .. this would be my 'J' (tapi berhias, bang!) status being permanent forever.)
Do not be shaken by criticism; instead, be firm. Know that the level of people's criticism increases in proportion to your worth.
(I'm understanding this bit that we should take criticism positively, and not MERAJUK right???????)
Faith in Allah and good deeds are the means of the good and happy life.
(I'm trying to do as many good deeds as possible.. tapi mulut tu masih mendusta. Must always remember Papa (my bro-in-law's dad) saying "zip atas & bawah untuk menjauhi neraka." Crude but true. And me saying "my mulut mendusta" yang 'atas' ok!!!! InshaAllah.)
One should know with certainty that everything is according to a divine decree.
(That is qadha & qadar. The mistakes that we make, even if costly, makes us stronger.)
Do not expect gratitude from anybody.
(This I've heard from Kunta...the 'ole' wise one!)
Perhaps what has happened is in your best interest (though you may not comprehend how that is so).
(For me, I realise that my divorce was for my best interest. Alhamdulillah. Although I will not wish the pain on my worst enemy.)
Whatever you have, are better than many others.
(We all know this but often often forget. Whenever I feel down, I think of this lady in Kenya I watched on the news .. she was metres deep in mud, digging for water. And I have bottles of mineral water in my fridge.)
Life is bread, water, and shade, so do not be perturbed by a lack of any other material thing.
(I shouldn't complain if I don't have a Philip Starck ghost chair (or should I be thankful that I don't???) or the latest Dior goucho handbag coz I have enough bread, water and shade.)
And now I would like to invite all of you to add more points to this piece. Can ah sweeties? Looking forward to it. XOX
